Dry, tight, crisp nose of earthy high notes. Moderately sweet, with enough wood to temper down the sugary sensibilities. Well balanced, with some fleeting baking spice appearances. Halfway through the long fadeout, the barrel aging really comes into play, adding a semi-bitter and tannic finish. The flavor of the cane itself remains throughout, becoming a memorable canvas upon which the wood rests. A really fine and singular aged rum which demands thoughtful introspection.
