About this bottle

Botran Rum is a single estate rum which uses two varieties of sugarcane which is harvested on the Pacific south coast of Guatemala. The first press of sugarcane (aka virgin sugar cane honey) is used for distillation rather than the traditional molasses. Botran uses “dynamic aging” which is a variation of the solera process. For the No. 18, rums aged 5-18 years are blended that have matured in American whiskey, sherry, and port casks. Notably, Botran has a Protected Denomination of Origin (PDO) and is certified as a Ron de Guatemala. Botran was relaunched in the US in August 2022 with updated packaging. ($44.99/700ml).

The Rev 4.0

This is some sweet rum, in both the literal and figurative sense of the word. Both nose and palate are tremendously rich and full, positively oozing with toffee, ripe banana, burnt sugar, and a fruitiness both dark and tropical. The finish is long and rich, with roasted wood notes coming in to round things off. I could see this making a perfect end to a fine Central American meal...or about any other time that you're in the mood for something in the "dessert dram" family. Not that I'd necessarily feel the need to mix this with anything, but I'm also willing to wager that it would get along really well with black coffee in a cocktail of some sort.

Kinda Sweet, quite smooth, easy to drink just burn a bit. Great bourbon profile, some toffee and vanilla. For sure there is wood profile and feels aged. I consider it is balance and classic rum, such as Mount gay. I let it rest to get some oxigen and them start sipping it straight from the glass, amazing better than zacapa, not than sweet more balance and complex IMO

Nose: caramel/molasses, sherry, raisins, chocolate Plate: sherry, spices Finish: oak, spices, fruity Very comperable to Ron Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva but a bit more complex / interesting

It is a rum with a very good balance, round!... in the first sip it is light, good volume of alcohol, brown sugar, vanilla!... medium finish with bitter tones!... recommended!!.

Oikein kuiva, kaarna, paahteinen karamelli, katkeraakin tunnelmaa, vaahterasiirappi, sitruksen kuori, jälkkärikonvehtinen finish. Vaikea uskoa ettei sokeria.

Pale plus copper colour Honey, brown sugar, cedar, bit is cinnamon spicenes and cherry. Just a bit more than 15 Reserva but still short end.
