If you like the regular expression of Zacapa Solera 23, this edition will also hit you in the right places. Not as sweet as the regular 23, but very smooth and tasteful. A must in your collection.
About this bottle
Ron Zacapa Edición Negra launched in March 2016 as an exclusive for the Travel Retail Market, but the rum is now widely available. Aged from 6-24 years, the dark rum is aged in double charred American oak casks. Master Blender Lorena Vásquez had been in her role for almost 25 years when she created this expression to honor Guatemalan culture and heritage.

appelsin, hvit sjokolade og vanilje med friske blomster. myk, bred med kanel og nellik. fin lengde. Litt spiss og hard på siden av tungen med ettersmak av eik og røyk fra godt brente fat.
Initially smelled only of rubbing alcohol. Smoky notes, drinks more like a barrel proof rum. Little flavor overall, not sweet. Mostly just smoky and dark, burnt notes.
Aromatic with a slight sweetness to the scent. Tastes balanced with hints of smoke. Not as smoky as I expected. Smooth without a strong ethanol burn.
Chocolate, vanilla, caramel, somewhat rich, light oak and smoke, hint of espresso, a little bitterness on the palate and finish.
smells of vanilla and caramel, light wood. great dryness / sweetness balance. nice wood, slight alcohol burn. long sweet finish.
