Nose - vanilla, caramel, cola, cinnamon, allspice, molasses, floral notes, powdered sugar, cherry, raspberry, mild to moderate ethanol burn. Taste - cola, cinnamon, cherry syrup, molasses, clove, vanilla, buttercream frosting, black pepper, sour oak, mild to moderate alcohol bite, finishing medium short with cola, vanilla, and sour, bitter oak flavors. This isn’t good, but it’s one notch above Captain Morgan in my opinion. This could be completely due to the higher proof though. It definitely has less of that cloying carnival candy vibe, and there is a cherry-like fruit note that adds some variety to the experience, although it’s more like cherry syrup than real cherries. The oak is also more present here than with the Captain. It’s not a great oak note, though it does provide a bit of depth. Overall, if you’re forced to choose between the two, pick the Sailor over the Captain, unless the $2 or so difference is meaningful. Still, this isn’t a sipper (and isn’t supposed to be one), but will work just fine mixed with some Coke.

The aroma is sweet, mildly spicy, fruity, and a little bit muddled. I get vanilla up front, followed by some nail polish remover, then a splash of watered down burnt caramel, a big hit of cherry cola, a pinch of allspice, and a hint of banana. Hot on the tongue, but expected at 46% ABV. The flavors follow suit with the nose, with just a bit more spice, and the cherry cola flavor dominating the rest. It’s quite dry, bordering on acrid. The body is good, substantial in the mouth, but nothing special. However, in the glass it’s a beauty, forming a high and tight skirt of tiny beads that take their time transforming into slow, heavy, and attractive legs. The finish is mild, slightly dry, slightly spicy, quite tannic, and even sports a bit of hogo. Not terrible straight, though obviously intended to be a mixer, and that’s really where it shines with its higher than usual ABV, extra flavor, and no added sugar. I started drinking because of Assassin Creed Black Flag, i played the game and felt in love with it which made me buy my first bottle of rum and alcohol ever. Funny how a video game influenced me to start drugs. It was obviously this one, sailor jerry and i loved it but for me 30-31$ CAD is expensive, I'm more aiming between 23-26$ per bottle for my spirits since am on a budget. I popped 3 pills of Procet 30mg Codeine so a total of 90mg of codeine ( I got it prescribed for chronic pain) and drunk a fair quantity of this rum in same time i had serious shortness of breath i was panicking that i would die from overdose, i couldn't even lift my head and then i passed out in my bed lol. Yes i know i was stupid for mixing Opioids with alcohol and trust me i learned my mistake i will never do that again. I give it a solid 5 stars because i had fun and good memories this summer from this bottle and it's 46% abv so you will get drunk izi pizi.

Truly a maritime blended Rum! It's perfect in every way, from silojbg to adding it in to your teas. Overall taste is sweet, easy on the pallet, and finishes quite nicely. You can totally taste the exotic spices, warm vanilla and sweet cinnamon. If you haven't tried this wonderful blend, you owe it to your tastebuds and throat to really love this rum a try! Your senses will love you forever for it!

Well, bit hyped up, but still one of the very fine spiced rums there. Very balanced, nice hint of vanilla in all that spices with almost no extra burn. Very good with Coke and splash of lime, nice evening sipper, but although too "balanced" for me. No adventure. No extra joy over the "good quality spiced rum" joy. But who can say no to the Sailor Jerry...

I tasted caramel and Madagascar vanilla in this rum. It doesn't have much more depth than that, but the flavor does change over time. Despite the floral notes, this is the most rich and robust spiced rum I have tried in this price range. It has a nice, balanced sweetness and does not taste at all watery.
