(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow – Virtual Irish Whiskey Tasting, 22 January 2021). Sourced from the Great Northern Distillery Malt & grain whisky. Grain: Virgin oak, finished in ex-bourbon. Malt: Ex-bourbon casks finished in Jamaican rum casks Aged for 4 years. Nose: Sweet, spicy (cloves), toffee, vanilla, buttered popcorn Palate: Vanilla, creamy, sweet, apple and spices Finish: Salt, butter. Sour on the aftertaste. Slightly numbing. Long finish Came joint first out of the six whiskies, with 23% of the final vote for favourite of the night. (68% of those present said they enjoyed the whisky). All of the whiskies in the tasting came very close, but on a run-off vote, this was voted the winner for the evening.
