Sazerac Rye Single Barrel Select (#042 Wise Guys)

Nose is lemon, orange peel, flowers. Melon rind. Sugar. There’s something else I always struggle with identifying. Mayonnaise? Carrots? Coleslaw maybe? Body is juicy and sweet. Gummy bears. Has a bit of a Jefferson’s vibe. Apple-flavored candy. The goo from a Dutch apple pie from Burger King. Finish is insanely gentle. Bit of brine, apple flavor remains (candied, not tart). Possibly some baking spice, but it really is gentle. I’ve had a few of these store picks, and I’ve seen every store pick to date as a unique and improved version of the original recipe (which I genuinely do like). Feel free to take a chance if you ever see one in the wild. It will be worth it!
