This is for Blackwell’s pick. Nose is musty. There’s lemon. Brine. So sour. Play dough? Body is gummy bears, tangerine, cherry, powdered sugar. Finish is grape juice, black pepper. Mild mint. Blood orange. Having this back to back with the main line, this is leaps and bounds better. I like Sazerac, but it lacks depth and feels overly musty and briny in this side-by-side. In comparison, this store pick is sweeter, juicier, and gentler. It stretches my imagination to figure out how this is connected to standard issue, but this is precisely why I love BT store picks of all types of labels. Truly wild.

Sazerac House New Orleans selection. Barrel 160, 2021. Hoping this is different from the standard but I have my doubts. Oh well, here goes… nose of cinnamon, rye, pineapple, wood, apple and caramel. Sweet and perhaps a bit richer than the standard; prunes, wood, oranges, black pepper, toast and a bit of caramel on the palate. Ok. It’s not incredibly different, but it’s different.
Golden Goose pick. Honey, black pepper, rye, peppermint. Pretty mild and a tad too much ethanol in the finish.
Has a sweet taste, not overbearing sweet. Little smoky, has a good bite to it. Mellow caramel in the middle.
Golden goose pick. Peppermint, honey, black pepper
Spicy with a caramel finish. Caesar’s barrel pick
