Spirited Away 3.5

Day No. 5 I was excited to discover that this one was of Japanese origin. I have been on a Japanese whiskey kick recently. Even though this has been my least favorite thus far, I still found it interesting based off the different tasting experience. The aroma gave off a pungent wood/oak essence. Almost as if my nose was against a freshly made block. There was also a hint of honey. All these transferred to the taste with floral and nutty undertones. The finish was short and semi-dry. Some warmth overall.

AnttiRG 3.5

An elegant, Single Grain Japanese Whisky crafted with 88% Koshihikari rice & 12% malted barley, aged in a mix of White Oak, Spanish Oak, and Sherry Casks before being bottled at 43% ABV. It has notes of grains, woods, fruits, nuts, herbs & spices; while a rich & bold life adds notes of Koshihikari rice, caramel, honey & Sherry; that led to a warm & balanced death of medium length with notes of oak, vanilla, roasted almonds & a hint of smoke.

Fredrink 3.3

It has a very oak forward nose with floral notes. The palate is light and sweet with notes of caramel, vanilla, and a bit of honey. There is also a hint of char smoke in the background. It's a very smooth dram. Not much of a finish. Could see this it as an enjoyable daily sipper.

First sniff has notes of smoky oak and strong corn and floral notes first sip has warm noted of nutty vanilla and honey then finishes with a smoky spice that lingers with a metal pepper finish.

I have not had many Japanese made whisky’s… and not sure this one would inspire me to have more. Just funky and what I call toasty on the back end with almost a burnt flavor.
