About this bottle

Still Waters spent a lot of time working on this blended Canadian Whisky which contains a high percentage of their own single malt and rye whiskies for flavoring. This release coincides with their Stalk & Barrel Blue Label. Red Label is the higher end of the two blended at 43% alcohol. It also means their 1+11 Blended Canadian Whisky will be retired and hitting the golf course while these two new whiskies fill the roll as their ambassador blends.

Not sure how i feel about this one. One of the strangest tasting whiskys I've ever tasted. To me it has two distinct notes, which are pepper and vanilla. STRONG vanilla. More than I've ever tasted in a whisky before. I gave it a 3 because sometimes I really enjoy it and other times its just too different and overly sweet on the nose. That being said I think it's really great to have the option of a whisky that tastes like this. It adds to the growing number of completely unique and high quality Canadian spirits.

Stalk&Barrel Red. 43% abv. Bottled in Canada. No age listed, minimum is 3 years. Very light in color. Aroma; not much, maple and nutty sweetness, grainy Taste: toasty, sweet, similar to blue blend but not as sweet, grainy, some oak comes through. Cost: 39.99 plus tax (750ml), not worth the price Grade: C+

Not so keen on this one. I don't pick up the sweetness mentioned by others, though I'll go along with vanilla and a bit of oak. There's additional spice in it, maybe it's the rye, that doesn't quite do it for me. This whiskey would be fine for mixed drinks but sipping neat I prefer others.

Not bad as an entry-level whiskey. Nice oakiness and sweetness to it. I might also say a bit of caramel on the nose. Finishes quickly, kind of disappearing from your mouth before you know it. Probably best to be used in mixed drinks, but I'd enjoy it on its own too.

This is a very good value in Canadian whiskey. I love the balance between the sweetness of the barley malt and the spice of the rye, with corn in the background rounding things out. This is my go-to everyday Canadian whisky.
