About this bottle

To make this whiskey, Taconic first empties barrels that previously held bourbon distilled at their facility. Those barrels are then sent to Catskill Mountain Sugarhouse, where they are filled with maple syrup and aged for several months before the syrup is bottled. The maple-soaked casks are returned to the distillery and refilled with bourbon for an additional period of aging.

I’ve not liked a single flavored whiskey yet. I always thought the flavors all muddled together, or it was overly sweet, or it just seemed like a bad marriage like something conceived when drunk in Las Vegas near a wedding chapel. But...this, this I liked. So, I was at the wine store yesterday buying a six pack of near alcohol free beer ( yes, it exists, and I love it! 25 calories,

*** MBS PICK **** Nose - Bright with light blackberry scent, some cinnamon, light mint, bright apple, very clean bright and refreshing Palate - Light oak, leather, cinnamon, maple syrup, burnt sugar, herbal notes like light but bright spearmint and honey. Finish - Cinnamon bitter light and honey maple sweetness

I’m sure bourbon purists will find something to knock about this bourbon. The truth is it’s a very pleasant whiskey with a nice finish. I️ love when New York distilleries produce quality bourbons. Enjoy!

Maple flavor is more subtle than I would have liked, more of a brown sugar flavor you get in something like Eagle Rare. A bit hot and thin. Works great in a maple old fashioned though.

Nose - honey maple Palate - honey maple, sweet Finish- very smooth Overall - sweet and smooth, actually pretty tasty and not overwhelming me for a bourbon

Maple on the nose. Maple on the tongue. Definately overproof for both. The rich maple aftertaste and high ABV make this a slow sipper, but a body warmer.
