As a newcomer to the world of scotch and whisky, I loved the experience of tasting this. I’ve never even had one of the classic Balvenies but this rum cask was fantastic. That hint of sweetness overtone and wonderfully smooth finish made for the perfect sipper after dinner on Valentine’s Day
About this bottle
Released in 2008 as a limited edition bottling, The Balvenie Rum cask was aged primarily in traditional oak barrels. As a finishing barrel, they utilized casks that previously held Jamaican rum. This product has been discontinued and has now been replaced with their standard Caribbean Cask 14 Year bottling, though you may see this on a dusty shelf or auction selection.

Extremely smooth. Rum barrel adds notes of flavor but doesn't dominate. An elevated version of the 14 year old. Exceptional scotch.
Spicy, vanilla, iodine, peat, and molasses. Not worth the $75 price tag
Fast burn, mouth Maple sweetness ? Some vanilla, dark fruit
Eenvoudige smaak, rum overheerst, smaak is niet complex,
Ok. Spiecier and not very sweet. Hard finish.
