Very rich and sweet on the nose. Didn’t transfer to the palate on this taste however. Mostly dry oaky leather here. Nothing remarkable about the finish. Hopefully some of the notes on the nose find their way into the palate next time around. 3/2023 - Same rich, sweet nose. However, now it transfers to the palate. Still a thin mouthfeel, but the flavors are more pronounced. Quite enjoyable sip.
About this bottle
Released in March 2022, this is one of four extended cask finished bourbons in the second batch of Barton 1792 Distillery's Thomas S. Moore line-up. Each of the four releases are made with the distillery's high-rye bourbon recipes which is aged 5-6 years. For this cognac cask finish, the brand used cognac casks which previously held cognac for 6+ years. The finishing period was 2-4 years and the batch was bottled at 93.4 proof.

Nose: rich caramel, vanilla sweetness, butterscotch, iodine Palate: up front oak, vanilla, caramel– a very subtle sweetness Finish: medium burn that rounds out into a nice cinnamon and Caramel finish. Long lasting finish with a rich cinnamon taste on every deep breath.
Nose: Toffee, peanut butter, caramel, and oak. Palate: vanilla and butter, light barrel notes, and a long lasting pepper finish. Overall: pretty good, but I was dissapointed that the notes from the nose did not transfer over to the palate as I hoped.
Has a sweetness that is enjoyable without being overbearing. Strong flavors but I’m not sure if they all work together. Still pretty good
Best of the bunch. Solid bourbon flavor. Sweet for sure. Rich and thick mouth. Very good.
