About this bottle

The brand Uncle Nearest was first launched in 2017 and is named in honor of the first African-American master distiller on record, Nearest Green. In 2022 the brand launched their first whiskeys which were distilled, aged and bottled by Uncle Nearest (prior to this, the whiskeys were sourced elsewhere). Made using the Lincoln County Process, this 1884 Small Batch Premium Whiskey was blended by fifth generation Green descendant Victoria Eady Butler. Her signature is found on the label.

AnttiRG 4.0

An elegant, Tennessee Whiskey by Victoria Eady Butler; crafted using the Lincoln County Process & aged for 4 to 7 years in new American white oak barrels before being bottled at a perfect 46.5% ABV. It has an aromatic birth with notes of grains, wood, fruits, flowers, nuts, herbs & spices; while an elegant life adds notes of apple juice, pineapple, cherry, nougat, maple syrup, honey, & brown butter; that led to a velvety & dry death of medium length with hints of toasted oak, vanilla, white pepper, cedar, orange zest, tobacco petals, cinnamon roll, ginger, nutmeg & dark chocolate.

NOSE Butterscotch, oak, dried fruit, baking spice and touches of copper and honey. It’s a bright, vibrant aroma that delivers a lot of fruit notes and just the right amount of oak to balance. PALATE Oak, butterscotch, cocoa, baking spice, leather, dried dark fruit, leather and some copper and nuts. Palate is quite a bit darker than the aroma and delivers a more classic TN Whiskey profile. FINISH Medium-long -> Oak, butterscotch, cocoa fade to baking spice and graham. BALANCE, BODY and FEEL Well-balanced, medium body and a warm soft feel.

Review #296 Whiskey Tour of the World 2025 #5 Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Light amber. Nose: Caramel and vanilla with some dark fruit. Palate: Cinnamon, clove, baking spice. Finish: Medium length with medium heat. Splash: A mild nutty note appears. Overall: 8.5/10 - I’ve wanted to try this, and it did not disappoint. The palate could be more complex, but everything is well done here. The drama surrounding the distillery aside, this is a solid bourbon.

I'm not getting a whole lot on the nose. Some leather and oak(?), but not much else. The palate, on the other hand, is spicy-sweet with a whole lotta peanuttiness. I like peanuts! This is good whiskey. I just had some Uncle Nearest Straight Rye and, coming from a Bourbon drinker, I have to give the nod to the Rye. I'll buy the Rye again before this. But make no mistake... this is good, and worth a purchase.

Nose: Soft oak, caramel chews Palate: Sweetness in the form of vanilla and spice in the form of pepper and baking spices Finish: Short Upon a repeat visit, my initial take is the pretty much the same. This is an easy sipping whiskey, pretty thin but offers your basic sweet and spice notes with a basic finish. At 93 proof you could do worse than this.

Tried neat at capital one lounge in dallas. Kinda sick so unfortusntly not much of a palate so will have to come back 11/17/25 tried at adams (meg snd prentsy brought the bottle): like picking a green apple right from the tree. Very fruit foward. carmel, pears, vanilla. Palate smooth with vanilla and honestly all the notes as on the nose
