Uncle Nearest Uncut/Unfiltered Straight Rye Whiskey

The nose is full of warm and evocative spice. Powerful rye notes hit immediately, with a bright and lively entry. The overall flavor sits right in the middle of the palate, with flavors evocative of a sunny afternoon in a country barn. Grains, corn, rye, wood, and caramel, toffee and tobacco. The finish is long with some soft sweet lingering touches whispering farewell. A superb addition to the Uncle Nearest portfolio and a testament to the skills of Victoria Eady Butler. Our rye spirit of the month!

I like this. Wish there was more grassy flavor being 100% rye but it's really good. Oily, rich. Warm. Sweet. Not noticing any of the expert notes except buttery or maybe light clove and nutmeg. Bubblegum finish. Tasted back to back against OG uncle nearest. I noticed too much cherry in this.

This is a nicely balanced rye, a little bit atypical of what I normally get out of a rye whiskey, but it's very very enjoyable. If you're looking for something a little out of the ordinary in a rye, don't miss this one.

I get apple, thyme, leather, oak and heavy spice.
