A bit different from WhistlePig’s usual offerings. Color is rather light, but this belies the punch of the first sip. Nice spice off the top with a slight sweetness following and the spice returning for a long finish. 45% rye, 30% wheat and a higher barley content at 25% make up the mash bill. A blend of whiskeys from Canada and Vermont based on fan votes from home during the early days of Covid make this an interesting collaboration. Maybe not worth the $70 price tag, but a decent whiskey. No regrets in buying it, but probably won’t buy a second bottle.

Nose: Sweet with a little rye spice, ripe apples and vanilla. An odd cherry cough syrup comes and goes. Palate: Relatively smooth with some rye spiciness which is to be expected of course. Some caramel mixes with that cherry on the nose which makes it more like candy than cough syrup. Finish: Some honey and nuts appear alongside some maltiness from the barley no doubt. Ends with a whisper of caramel covered apples which is a nice surprise!
Very clean and smooth. Lots of citrus on the nose with some floral hints and spice behind. Spiced biscuits on the palate with a hint of rye spice. Slightly muted finish but still with a hint of mint and ginger biscuits, without the spice hit you might expect.
Crop 4 This is one of my favorite releases from WhistlePig. The rye is the most notable aspect, which is interesting considering how it’s known for the high barley. It’s just a really enjoyable whisky. Very sweet.
70” I’m going to have to let this bottle breathe and revisit. I wasn’t impressed as of right now and I feel it made need time. Whistle pig Nose: Corn Oaky barrel spice Grain Palette: Smooth Oaky Licorice Musty
I took part in the home kit blending. Very close to my own favorite mash bill I created, it is very good. It's an easy sipper, not overly complex. A little pricey for the age and abv. But worth a try.
