About this bottle

Nose: Dill, rye Palate: Grain up front but quickly reveals a fruiter, vanilla profile Finish: Short, the sweet profile carries over with some spice at the end Located in Pittsburgh Strip District, this local craft distillery features a 68% organic rye, 18% organic wheat, 14% organic malted barley mash bill. The "wheated rye" takes the typical rye profile and brings out more vanilla, caramel notes on the palate. An interesting take on a rye that's perfectly fine to sip.

Compared to others this is a mild, but tasty, rye. The nose has anise, rye grain, tobacco and some honeyed fruit. The palate has the classic rye herbal notes, along with some cigar box mustiness and then some pepper at the back of the palate. The finish is mild but lingers for a nice long while. It is a little thin on the mouthfeel, probably due to the proof, but overall is an enjoyable pour.

Something new! Light, sweet, nice flavor. A little lightweight, but good complexity. A little touch of cedar, some rye spice, super approachable. I like it a lot better than the old forester rye. This would be an easy four-star pick for me if it was a 100 proof. It just needs a little more age & horsepower

PA distilled ryes have such a unique flavor profile and Wigle is no exception. There are some familiar notes to Dad’s Hat and New Liberty ryes here and that’s a good thing IMO. I’m getting light peppery black tea and cereal grains on the palate with a slightly spicy finish.

Wigle knows Rye. This Rye is now Straight and they've been transitioning from small to large barrels. Their PA Rye (the one here) is very approachable with dark cherry notes. Their Deep Cut Rye and Single Barrel Straight Ryes are wonderful too and good for rye lovers.

Pretty thin and light as ryes go, but perhaps that’s because it’s not all rye. It tastes a bit young, but has a very nice flavor and is quite rounded. Tobacco and spice. Basically no burn!
