Nose- very fruit forward with a drizzle of caramel and some brown sugar. It is a really nice nose, subtle but inviting. Palate- Berries, and cream dominated. I found a bit-o-honey with a little oak. The mouthfeel was buttery and rich. This is not a complex whiskey though and for the proof seems a bit lacking. It's good, but a bit ho-hum for me. Finish- I get some flat cola and French vanilla or perhaps vanilla wafer. The finish is not very long or warming. Overall- I tasted this side by side a single barrel pour of Weller OWA 107. This did not stack up to the Weller which had a better finish, nicer oak backbone, and was a bit more complex in flavor. For the price difference I would by 2 bottles of the Weller 107 any day of the week, and if one of those was a single barrel select of quality, I would stock up on that. It's not bad by any means, but more so for me a punched up version of Johnny Drum without the spicier notes.
About this bottle
This release is the first wheated bourbon from Willett. It was distilled in early 2013 using a "proprietary mash bill" of corn, wheat, and malted barley. After 8 years in new char #4 American oak barrels, it was bottled in the summer of 2022 without chill filtration at 108 proof.

Nose: Apricot, peach, grape Palate: Vanilla, buttercream, caramel, and a hit of oak Finish: short, fades away pretty quick, a little tannic oak. This wheared bourbon has a medium body and hits all the soft sweet notes as expected. A great nose and a solid palate, would like to see more from tue finish. Otherwise a fine example of the qualoty Willet brings.
4.35 Really interesting. Lots of green apple on the nose, bright and crisp through the palate, long charred finish. Flavors expand on the KY chew & with a few drops of water. I can see why it's polarizing (especially at the price), but I dig it.
Mostly generic bourbon flavors, burnt caramel, cocoa, nougat, Snickers candy bar. About on par with OWA, maybe a tad better. At $250–300 retail, I would never pay that much for this. It's nowhere near that price level of good.
First sip was weird. Red hots candy and old books finish. Follow up sips more interesting and kept on sipping. Can for sure see why this one is divisive. I like it but its certainly not an everyday sipper as people say.
Sweet and malty on the nose with no ethanol, the wheat jumps out of the glass. The palate is smooth and balanced, the sweet wheat punches through. The finish is long with a perfect amount of spice. I really enjoyed this.
