I began this taste with a question ~ Is Double Double Oaked really worth spending $199 SRP? ( but typically more, depending on your region ) And I can absolutely say that yes - it is. So there it is... review over. For those that want to read boring tasting notes, here it goes: The nose is sticky sweet but also smokey from that second maturation barrel. Thick maple syrup and caramel creates a viscous nose that is oh-so dessert like. A cool, mellow vanilla bridges that sweet and the caramel turns salted as you take in smokey charred cherrywood. The front of the taste is vanilla, butterscotch and maple syrup. For 90.4 proof this bourbon has a very thick and satisfying mouthfeel. Mid taste brings in cherries and some cinnamon and clove to add a little tannic kick. Tannins stick around for the finish with cinnamon still playing a big role along side black tea. There's a deep, darker overripened cherry quality about the finish as well. It is a long, satisfying finish. Wow! So early in the year and already tasting perhaps one of the best of 2025. Its complex and deep. Where the standard Double Oaked is typically a VERY good bourbon, it appears rough and simplistic next to Double Double Oaked which feels insane to say. Is it really worth 5x the price of Double Oaked? Absolutely, unequivocally yes. Go buy a bottle. Like now.

It feels like an eternity since I've been on here. I assure everyone that I have been quite busy acquiring new exciting spirits to review. This being one of them. I've always loved WR double oaked and it's one of the few I repurchased a few times. So when I discovered this at my local my eyes lit up! The nose yielded a delightful combination of cinnamon covered bananas a la banana's foster with a hint of dried fruit. When I took the first sip, I was given a variety of tasting notes all at once with a smooth warming heat. I immediately took a couple more to parse out the complexity. A healthy dose of leather, barrel char, and tobacco eventually separated onto my palate with a touch of baking spice in the background. At this point, I'm practically at the bottom (picture was taken a month ago) of the bottle and will savor it for as long as possible. Not only because it was fantastic, but the price tag and exclusivity makes it a tough one to acquire. If you haven't tried this yet, I highly recommend finding one. You won't be disappointed.
Been trying to nab this during KY trips for years, and never caught the distillery right, so I was quite happy when BF announced they'd be selling it nationally. I saw it at Costco for 11% under SRP to boot so almost bought two but decided to try it first, realizing it was now goingvto be readily attainable. A quick swirl shows this will be a nice oily drink with long legs. The nose is quite nice, prunes, sour cherries, leather, and a nice sweetness. Surprisingly, I'm not getting a lot of oak tannins. That missing oak and tannin is definitely present on the palate, too much so. Adding ice and giving a rigorous swirll ebbs the tannin, but doesnt bring any flavors forward. For me, this is more over oaked than double double oaked. I prefer double oaked at a fraction of the cost. What I'd really like to see is batch proof double oaked. That may be worth the SRP price tag.
Even without the proof this is still a full bodied vanilla and caramel bomb. I can find no flaws. The nose leads into the palate beautifully. Stunning!
A nice bourbon but not worth it for the price. This is more harsh and has more bite than the double oaked and costs 4-6x as much.
Great Nose and the flavor is amazing. Double Oaked is great, but this one has so much more to it. Great Pour!
