About this bottle

Woodinville Double Barrel Blended Whiskey begins with the same mash bill used for the brand's flagship straight bourbon. The grains (corn, rye, and malted barley) were grown by the Omlin Family Farm in Quincy, Washington. The whiskey initially ages in new, charred American oak but is then transferred to used bourbon barrels. Bottled at 86 proof.

Nose is butterscotch with undertones of honey and oak. It is fantastic IMO, smells like candy. Mouthfeel is a little on the thin side, however makes up for it in flavor. Palate is dominated by straight butterscotch, with notes of oak, honey, and tobacco. Finish is long, and is more of the same, filled with sweet butterscotch and oak with some spice and really mild heat, and finally fades into an aftertaste of dry oak. This bourbon tastes like candy and I love it. Unfortunately I don't think I can get a bottle of it around here. I would love to get ahold of another bottle to see if it lives up to this one. What a gem.

It’s always a delight when my blind rating lines up with the group consensus. Personally, I find this a beautiful bourbon. I had someone sharing this with me say it was too heavy handed for his tastes but I’ve been drinking so much bad whiskey lately that this was a welcomed, beautiful and I’d even say elegant departure. Like a newborn baby on the frontier, I’m the local dentist who helped deliver it, and based on my basic understanding of human anatomy, proclaimed “yep, everything’s where it’s supposed to be.”

Aroma comes through rather muted, with little going on below the crafty woodiness that dominates; Palate again is dominated with that crafty-woody profile and ends up coming through like an “ok craft whiskey”; Finish picks up the most spice and even an interesting smoky note – definitely my favorite part of this whiskey.

How are there not more reviews for WDB? I’m becoming a major fan. The PNW is pulling of some wonderful magic in the whiskey world. Double barrel is good, but not my pick of the batch. Quite nice, with a syrupy top end, however, slightly hollow in the middle. Like drinking a wooden box or an empty apple crate.

Aroma is a mixture of vanilla and berries. Amazing smell like all Woodinvilles, smells super creamy. Goes down crazy smooth, barely any burn at all. Tastes as creamy as it smells, this would be an amazing summer sip or choice for sweeter drinkers. Creaminess gives it a rich tail. Tastes like dessert.

Best whiskey I’ve had, hands down. It might not be the “best” to a critic but this is my all time favorite thing to drink. Explosive flavors of sweet vanilla with a smooth oakiness. Finish is smooth with hints of grain and oak. My favorite part is the rich mouthfeel. Just buy it, it’s great.
