History

Creamy texture, not overly sweet, with prominent tequila notes. (Añogo is Spanish for 'yearn'.)

H. Joseph Ehrmann created this recipe in 2007 at Elixir in San Francisco, California. Ehrmann's recipe does not use advocaat; instead, it is made with an eggnog base prepared by combining beaten egg yolks with sugar, milk, cream, and nutmeg. H. has also experimented with aging this mixture in a cask for three months before using it in his Añogo. The eggnog base is cumbersome to prepare, so advocaat is used as a substitute. Apologies to H.
