History
A flavoursome, three-equal-parts dessert Martini. Rich and indulgent, with a dry finish.
Also known as the Parisian Cocktail, it gained its "Arnaud" name from its appearance as the preferred cocktail of the pre-war French pianist, singer, and stage actress Yvonne Arnaud (1890-1958) in the 1955 Booth's Gin publication, An Anthology of Cocktails. A concert pianist in her youth, she later pursued acting in musical comedies before transitioning to non-musical comedy and drama around 1920. She subsequently took on dramatic cinematic roles during the 1930s and 40s, continuing her acting career into the 1950s. Our choice for Yvonne Arnaud Parisian Cocktail ⅓ BOOTH'S GIN ⅓ French VERMOUTH ⅓ CRÈME DE CASSIS Shake well and stain into chilled glass. Thought for the occasion: "Canaries sometime sing, but Booth's never gets the bird." Your call, Miss Arnaud "A cocktail with Booth's? – Ah yes! Without Booth's? ... Arnaud."
