History
Rum and fruit juices with dashes of aromatic bitters. Aunt Agatha prefers simple things done well.
The "Aunt Agatha" cocktail is named after Bertie Wooster's formidable aunt, a character in P.G. Wodehouse's books. The recipe is adapted from Victor Bergeron's 1972 Trader Vic's Bartender's Guide, Revised. It calls for 1½ ounces light Puerto Rican rum and 2 ounces orange juice, with Angostura bitters. The preparation involves pouring the rum and orange juice over ice cubes in an old fashioned glass, stirring, and then floating a few drops of bitters on top. A variation suggests substituting grapefruit juice for the orange juice.
