History

Cream and chocolate smooth scotch and gin without overpowering them. This is a creamy, yet serious, not overly sweet cocktail.

This cocktail dates from the Prohibition era (1920-1933) and its origin is unknown. The name "Barbary Coast" referred to a district approximately nine blocks wide, centered on Pacific Street (now Pacific Avenue) between Montgomery and Stockton Streets. In the latter half of the 19th and early 20th centuries, this area was a red-light district frequented by sailors.
