History
A Portuguese apéritif influenced by a bittersweet Italian aperitivo.
Cas Oh, a bartender in London, created this cocktail in 2014. It appears in his 2020 book, Co-Specs, in which he shares that the name Belafonte comes from the boat belonging to Steve Zizzou, a character in Wes Anderson's film The Life Aquatic. Bill Murray plays the quirky oceanographer in the 2004 movie.
