History
This low-alcohol digestif is a blend of recipes from William Boothby and Harry Craddock's 1930 Blackthorn No. 2, with a preference for Boothby's version. It offers a jammy flavor with subtle herbal notes.
The recipe for the drink now known as the Blackthorn No. 1 was published in William "Cocktail Bill" Boothby's 1908 book, World's Drinks And How To Mix Them. The 1930 Swallows edition of Boothby's book includes this recipe along with three numbered variations, with this being the second.
