History
Greetings!
This drink is adapted from a recipe created in 1957 by Harry K. Yee at Henry Kaiser's Hawaiian Village Hotel (now the Hilton) in Waikiki, Oahu, Hawaii. Bols commissioned the drink to boost sales of their blue curaçao. It is named after the hit song from the 1937 film Waikiki Wedding, starring Bing Crosby, and not after the 1961 Elvis Presley film of the same name, which is described as a "musical-comedy." However, the Elvis film likely contributed to the cocktail's popularity.
