History

An aperitivo with sherry forward notes and rye whiskey, offering delicate apricot.

This cocktail's recipe was created by bartender Tiffanie Barriere at the One Flew South bar in Atlanta, Georgia. Barriere's original preparation specified a sweet oloroso sherry. However, given that most oloroso sherries are dry, with a sugar content of 1 to 4 grams per liter, cream sherry is used instead. Cab Calloway (1907-1994) was an American singer, songwriter, bandleader, and dancer recognized for his energetic scat singing, particularly in his rendition of "Minnie the Moocher." He was associated with Harlem's Cotton Club, a venue noted in cocktail circles due to Charlie Conolly's book, "The World Famous Cotton Club: 1939 Book of Mixed Drinks."
