History

This is considered one of the less successful cocktails featured in Harry Cradock's 1930 publication, The Savoy Cocktail Book. Adhering strictly to Craddock's recipe results in a drink that is more aptly named the 'Curdled Cream Sweet Martini'. By reducing the gin and increasing the cream, as specified in the recipe above, curdling is minimized, leading to a more palatable, though still not outstanding, cocktail.

The genesis of this recipe traces back to Harry Craddock's 1930 work, The Savoy Cocktail Book. The formula for this beverage, as presented in the publication, is as follows: "CORDOVA COCKTAIL. 2/3 Dry Gin. 1 Dash Absinthe. 1 Teaspoon Fresh Cream. 1/3 Italian Vermouth. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass."
