Ingredients

2 oz Gin
3/4 oz Lemon juice
3 barspoon Raspberry jam

How to make

Serve in a coupe glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a COUPE GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of skewered raspberry.

Method

  1. 3 STIR all ingredients in base of shaker to dissolve jam.
  2. 4 SHAKE with ice.
  3. 5 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish

  1. 6 Garnish with skewered raspberry.

Flavour profile

History

Rich in both colour and flavour. Use three level barspoons (15-20ml) of quality raspberry jam. The original recipe specifies Bonne Maman Raspberry Conserve.

Sasha Petraske created this recipe at his Milk & Honey bar in New York City, USA. In Georgette Moger-Petraske's 2016 book, Sasha Petraske Regarding Cocktails, Michael Madrusan, a colleague of Petraske's at Milk & Honey, commented on the Cosmonaut: "Sasha named it as a jab towards the popularity of the Cosmopolitan, which this drink, Emphatically, is not." Cosmonaut 2 oz (60 ml) gin ¾ oz (22 ml) fresh lemon juice 1 heaping bar spoon raspberry preserves Combine the gin, lemon juice, and preserves in a chilled cocktail shaker. Add ice, then shake vigorously until the drink is well-chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe.
