History

Freshly pressed sugar cane syrup and Chartreuse add complexity to the classic Daiquiri.

The Daiquiri's origins trace back to the late 19th century, in the Cuban town of Daiquirí, near Santiago. The story goes that an American mining engineer named Jennings Cox was entertaining guests when he ran out of gin. Instead, he mixed rum, lime juice, and sugar, serving it over ice. He supposedly named the drink after the nearby beach, Playa Daiquirí. The drink quickly gained popularity, first in Cuba and then internationally.
