Ingredients

1 oz Rye whiskey 50% abv
2/3 oz Hazelnut liqueur
1/2 oz Lemon juice
1 3/4 oz Smoked porter beer
1 barspoon Brown sugar
1 dash Barrel-aged bitters

How to make

Serve in a coupe glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a COUPE GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.

  1. 3 SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish

  1. 5 EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

History

Rye whiskey, porter, and lemon juice balance hazelnut liqueur and brown sugar in this bittersweet cocktail.

Andrea Montague of London, England, created this drink in 2013. Its name comes from De Beauvoir Town, a north London area bordered by Kingsland Road to the east, Southgate Road to the west, the Regent's Canal in the south, and Tottenham Road to the north. Beavertown, the cockney name for this area, is also the name of a brewery in Hackney. Andrea used the brewery's Smog Rocket porter in her award-winning cocktail.
