Ingredients

2 oz Single malt Scotch whisky
5/6 oz Ginger liqueur

How to make

Serve in a martini glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a MARTINI GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of lemon zest twist.

Method

  1. 3 STIR all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish

  1. 5 EXPRESS lemon zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

History

Sophisticated and rich, this Scotch-based drink has ginger spice and citrus zest.

Gary "gaz" Regan created this drink in the 1990s. In his San Francisco Chronicle column, 'The Cocktailian,' he wrote, "I gave the formula a series of silly names, and eventually I got really frustrated with it so I looked up "sophisticated" in Roget's Thesaurus.. The Debonair was born."
