History

This recipe is an adaptation from one found in Harry Craddock's 1930 publication, *The Savoy Cocktail Book*. The Diplomat also features prominently in Patrick Gavin Duffy's 1934 work, *The Official Mixer's Manual*. "DIPLOMAT COCKTAIL. 1 Dash Maraschino. 2/3 French Vermouth. 1/3 Italian Vermouth. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass. Add cherry and squeeze lemon peel on top." "Diplomat Cocktail 1 Dash Maraschino 2/3 French Vermouth 1/3 Italian Vermouth Stir well in ice and strain into glass. Add Cherry and squeeze Lemon Peel on top. Use glass number 1"
