History

A Manhattan variation using Irish whiskey instead of bourbon or rye, with equal parts sweet vermouth, orange liqueur and orange bitters.

Adapted from a 1999 recipe by Gary 'gaz' Regan, created in New York, USA, for St. Patrick's Day of that year. THE DUBLINER Family: French-Italian: Whiskey and Brandy Created by gaz regan for St. Patrick's Day, 1999. This recipe is straightforward. Without the Grand Marnier, the structure resembles a Manhattan, but uses Irish whiskey instead of bourbon or rye. The addition of Grand Marnier and orange bitters for enhanced orange flavor transforms it into a new drink. 2 ounces Irish whiskey ½ ounce sweet vermouth ½ ounce Grand Marnier Orange bitters to taste 1 maraschino cherry (green if possible), for garnish STIR AND STRAIN into chilled cocktail glass. Add the garnish.
