History
Inspired by Hong Kong, the Dynasty Margarita appropriately uses traditional Chinese lychee and ginger with elderflower liqueur for a distinctive floral Margarita.
This cocktail is adapted from a recipe created in 2019 by Jay Khan in Hong Kong, China, for Patrón Tequila's Margarita of the Year competition, where it was the winning entry. Jay's original recipe utilizes homemade lychee & ginger syrup, Patrón Silver Tequila, and Patron Citronge. To prepare the homemade lychee & ginger syrup, fresh, peeled, and de-stoned lychees are blended until smooth. This juice is then double-strained and combined with equal parts of freshly pressed ginger juice. Granulated sugar is added in an amount equal to the combined weight of the lychee and ginger juice, and the mixture is stirred until the sugar is fully dissolved.
