Ingredients

1 1/6 oz Light gold rum 1-3yo
1 1/6 oz Pineapple juice
5/6 oz Lime juice
1/2 oz Sugar syrup 'rich' (2:1)
1/2 oz Ruby port

How to make

Serve in a collins glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a COLLINS GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of mint sprigs bouquet.

Method

  1. 3 POUR first 4 ingredients into chilled glass.
  2. 4 Two-thirds FILL glass with crushed ice.
  3. 5 CHURN (stir) with bar spoon.
  4. 6 Fill glass with more crushed ice and briefly CHURN.
  5. 7 FLOAT port.

Garnish

  1. 8 Garnish with mint sprigs bouquet.

History

Pineapple and citrus notes mingle with rum, balanced by port wine. Refreshing and easy to drink, this pleases crowds.

This drink was created for Bacardí Legacy 2017 by Conor Myers at The Exchequer in Dublin, Ireland. Myers aimed to create a drink that was visually striking and fun, efficient, inexpensive, and had a low alcohol by volume, suitable for Bacardí's festival circuit. He stated his intention was to connect two subcultures, as Bacardí has historically been integral to the underground music scene. He felt 'Electric Avenue' perfectly captured the energy of large crowds and big venues, complementing loud music and underground culture.
