1 1/2 oz Light gold rum 1-3yo
1/6 oz Orange Curaçao
1/6 oz Crème de noyau
1/6 oz Sugar syrup 'rich' (2:1)
2 dash Absinthe
1 fresh Egg yolk
How to make
Serve in a coupe glass
Prepare
- 1 Select and pre-chill a COUPE GLASS.
- 2 Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.
Method
- 3 SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
- 4 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

- 5 EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

Harry Craddock's 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book includes a recipe for this drink. EYE-OPENER COCKTAIL. 1 Fresh Egg Yolk. Powdered Sugar, 1 Teaspoon. Absinthe, 2 Dashes. Curaçao, 2 Dashes. Crème de Noyau, 2 Dashes. Rum, 1 Liqueur Glass. Instructions: Shake ingredients thoroughly and strain into a cocktail glass.
