History
Fig and pomegranate contribute a new layer to this cocktail, reminiscent of a Margarita.
Salvatore Calabrese is credited with creating this drink at Salvatore At Fifty, a bar in London, England. It was initially presented in an old-fashioned glass filled with crushed ice and is featured in Calabrese's 2015 book, Classic Cocktails. FIG SUPREME Fresh figs, a personal favorite summer fruit, offer a subtle flavor that complements aged tequila. The tequila's time in the cask imparts a distinguished woody undertone. 1 2/3 oz / 5 cl 100 percent agave añejo tequila 2/3 oz / 2 cl fresh lime juice 1/2 oz / 1.5 cl Grand Marnier Dash grenadine 2 ripe figs ------ Garnish: wedge of fig Method: Shake Glass: Old-fashioned Extract the pulp from the figs and add it to a shaker with the other ingredients and some ice. Shake vigorously. Strain the mixture into an old-fashioned glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish the rim of the glass with a fig wedge and serve with a straw.
