History
Upgrade a standard Grasshopper to a Flying Grasshopper for this creamy after-dinner drink. A splash of vodka improves it, with extra vodka arguably making it even better. It is minty, fresh, and chocolatey, evoking choc mint ice-cream.
This is a more potent variation of the Grasshopper cocktail, dating from the 1970s or earlier. Some sources, such as Stan Jones' 1977 Jones' Complete Bar Guide, omit the cream, listing the ingredients as: 1 part vodka, ¾ part green crème de menthe, and ¾ part white crème de cacao, resulting in a clear, emerald green cocktail.
