History
A sophisticated drink, spirit-forward, fruity and dry.
This drink first appeared in print in 1928, in the book "Here's How! (New & Revised Edition)" by Judge Jr. The recipe in this publication is attributed to "the two proprietors of a very, very well-known Speakeasy in New York City." Later, in 1930, Harry Craddock included the same recipe in his notable "The Savoy Cocktail Book." An iteration under the name "Frankenstein Cocktail" can be found in the 1938 book "The How and When," authored by Hyman Gale & Gerald F. Marco. The Frankenjack This cocktail was devised by the owners of a prominent New York City speakeasy. 1/3 Gordon water; 1/3 French vermouth; 1/6 apricot brandy; 1/6 Cointreau. NOTE: During the era of illicit alcohol, consuming a nightcap could prove fatal. THE FRANKENJACK COCKTAIL. 1/3 Gin. 1/3 French Vermouth. 1/6 Apricot Brandy. 1/6 Cointreau. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass.
