Ingredients

2 oz Reposado tequila
3 1/2 oz Orange juice
1/2 oz Galliano liqueur

How to make

Serve in a collins glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a COLLINS GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of orange slice wheel.

Method

  1. 3 STIR first 2 ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 STRAIN into ice-filled glass.
  3. 5 FLOAT liqueur.

  1. 6 Garnish with orange slice wheel.

History

A Harvey Wallbanger made with tequila in place of vodka. Squeeze quality oranges just before making for an amazing cocktail. It's usual to 'build' the first two ingredients in the glass and then 'float' the Galliano, but separately stirring the tequila and orange then straining over fresh ice, followed by adding the liqueur, is better.

Considered to be essentially a Harvey Wallbanger made with tequila, this drink is believed to have been created in the mid-1960s by Donato 'Duke' Antone, the same bartender who is often credited with the creation of the Harvey Wallbanger.
