Ingredients

1 2/3 oz Gin
1/3 oz Chartreuse Yellow
1/3 oz Lemon juice
1/3 oz Grenadine syrup

How to make

Serve in a old-fashioned glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill an OLD-FASHIONED GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of skewered seasonal berries.

Method

  1. 3 SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 STRAIN into glass filled with crushed ice.

Garnish

  1. 5 Serve with a straw.
  2. 6 Garnish with skewered berries.

History

With good crushed ice, this is a serious gin cocktail. Botanicals, herbal liqueur, and grenadine give this classic an almost rose-like flavour. Soda can be added to the shaker before straining, but crushed ice mitigates the need for this.

The gin daisy has its origins in the late-1800s, with the earliest known recipe appearing in Jerry Thomas' 1876 publication, The Bar-Tender's Guide.
