History
Amaretto adds subtle flavour and sweetness to cognac.
The Godchild is part of "The God(father)" cocktail trilogy and bears a close resemblance to the French Connection, which predates it. According to Mark Torre's 1987 publication, The Bartenders Cherry, the distinction lies in the Godchild being prepared with brandy of unspecified origin, whereas the French Connection specifically requires cognac brandy served in a Snifter glass. The recipe for the GODCHILD is: 1 shot Brandy, 1 shot Amaretto Di Saronno® / Amaretto, served in a Rocks/Old Fashioned Glass. The recipe for the FRENCH CONNECTION is: 1 shot Courvoisier®, 2/3 shot Amaretto Di Saronno® / Amaretto, served in a Snifter Glass.
