History
A Fifty-Fifty Sweet Martini featuring orange and aromatic bitters.
This recipe is adapted from Jacques Straub's 1913 book, Straub's Manual of Mixed Drinks. It is rumored to have been a favorite of journalists working for the American newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst and is believed to have been created at New York's Waldorf-Astoria. It is nicknamed "The Disgruntled Journalist", possibly referencing the Journalist cocktail. HEARST COCKTAIL. 1 Dash Angostura Bitters. 2 Dashes Orange Bitters. ½ Jigger High and Dry Gin. ½ Jigger Italian Vermouth. Serve.
