History

A Fifty-Fifty Sweet Martini featuring orange and aromatic bitters.

This recipe is adapted from Jacques Straub's 1913 book, Straub's Manual of Mixed Drinks. It is rumored to have been a favorite of journalists working for the American newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst and is believed to have been created at New York's Waldorf-Astoria. It is nicknamed "The Disgruntled Journalist", possibly referencing the Journalist cocktail.
