History
Gin's botanical bite complements this tropically fruity cocktail, despite not being traditionally Hawaiian.
Harry Craddock's 1930 publication, The Savoy Cocktail Book, contains two variations of the Honolulu Cocktail. The first version, labeled "HONOLULU COCKTAIL. (No. 1.)", calls for: 1 Dash Angostura Bitters. 1 Dash Orange Juice. 1 Dash Pineapple Juice. 1 Dash Lemon Juice. 1 Glass Dry Gin. A little Powdered Sugar. This is to be shaken well and strained into a cocktail glass. The second version, "HONOLULU COCKTAIL. (No. 2.)", is composed of: ⅓ Maraschino. ⅓ Gin. ⅓ Bénédictine. A little Powdered Sugar. This preparation also requires shaking well and straining into a cocktail glass.
