Ingredients

1 oz Cognac (brandy)
1 oz Triple sec
3/4 oz Dry vermouth
3/4 oz Lemon juice
1/2 oz Egg white (pasteurised)

How to make

Serve in a coupe glass

Prepare

  1. 1 Select and pre-chill a COUPE GLASS.
  2. 2 Prepare garnish of orange zest twist.

Method

  1. 3 SHAKE all ingredients with ice.
  2. 4 FINE STRAIN into chilled glass.

Garnish

  1. 5 EXPRESS orange zest twist over the cocktail and use as garnish.

This drink is quite similar to a Sidecar.

This is a variation on the Hoop La! Cocktail recipe found in Harry Craddock's 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book. The same publication includes two other cocktails, the Frank Sullivan Cocktail and the Odd McIntyre Cocktail, with identical recipes. HOOP LA! COCKTAIL. ¼ Glass Lemon Juice. ¼ Glass Kina Lillet. ¼ Glass Cointreau. ¼ Glass Brandy. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass.
