History
A warming mix of brandy and citrus that invigorates.
The earliest known mention of a Toddy dates back to 1741 in England. Jerry Thomas' Bar-tenders Guide, published in 1862, includes a Brandy Toddy. The recipe calls for a small bar glass and specifies 1 teaspoon of sugar, ½ wine-glass of water, and 1 do. brandy, to be stirred with a spoon. For a hot brandy toddy, the ice is omitted, and boiling water is used instead.
