History
Orange generously laced with gin. The previous version of this recipe called for just 20ml (⅔oz) orange juice, but this cocktail is better with a touch more juice.
This cocktail is adapted from Harry Craddock's 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book. It was first published in Robert Vermeire's 1922 Cocktails How to Mix Them and has appeared in other books spelled as Hoola-Hoola or even Hula Hula. For the complete narrative, consult Hula Hula, Houla Houla, or Hoola-Hoola. HOULA-HOULA COCKTAIL. 1 Dash Curaçao. ⅓ Orange Juice. ⅔ Dry Gin. Shake well and strain into cocktail glass.
