History
A Fifty Fifty Martini with aromatic bitters and subtle maraschino.
This recipe is adapted from Hugo R. Ensslin's 1917 Recipes for Mixed Drinks (Second Edition). The "Imperial Cocktail" also appears in Harry Craddock's 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book. The recipe in Ensslin's book is: ½ French Vermouth, ½ El Bart Gin, 1 dash Angostura Bitters, 1 dash Maraschino. Stir well in a mixing glass with cracked ice, strain and serve with an olive. The recipe in The Savoy Cocktail Book is: 1 Dash Maraschino, 1 Dash Angostura Bitters, ½ French Vermouth, ½ Dry Gin. Stir well and serve with olive.
