History

Rum provides the main character; gin and whiskey are secondary, with citrus notes present.

Jack is a generic name for British sailors, derived from Jack Tar, a term used in the 18th and 19th centuries. Sailors at that time used high-grade tar on their clothing and hair for waterproofing. The phrase "Jack-of-all-trades," describing a sailor capable of many tasks, is still in common use today.
